The Petworth Society is a charity that exists to help preserve and promote the heritage of this special town. Through our famous quarterly Magazine, talks and events we capture and convey the history of Petworth and its people. Based on research and personal histories, the Magazine brings the past to life. With the help of extensive archive photography, it reflects what has – and hasn’t – changed over time.
We hope you will enjoy the material on this website and, if not already a member, that you will consider joining. We look forward to meeting you at an event!
The Petworth Society has been holding book sales for more than 22 years. They occur on the second Saturdays in March, June, September and December. They take place in the Leconfield Hall, Petworth between 10am and 3pm. There is no charge for entry.
The sales have been going on for almost 25 years and are now a firm fixture in the Petworth community.
More than mere sales, they bring together both local people and others from further away. The proceeds go towards producing the quarterly Petworth Society magazine and other community events that are supported by the Society.
If you would like to donate books, please email either info@petworthsociety.co.uk or contact Sarah and Mike on 01798 343083.
