PETWORTH PARK DEER RUT  WALK

Date – Tuesday 29th October , starting at 10.30    Time: approx two hours – depending on whether the deer are where they meant to be!  Please NO dogs, even on a lead.

As well as following and seeing the deer in action and learning all about the rut we will learn out the history of that peculiarly English institution of the deer park,  the development and history of Petworth Park as a deer park, the characteristics and types of fallow deer in the Park,  the life cycle of the deer, and how the deer are managed.

This  walk will involve some uneven ground and inclines so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Bring binoculars if you have them.

Led by Ian Yonge who has led many such walks over the years for the National Trust.

Meet: Petworth Park, NORTH Car   Park NOT Petworth House Car  Park. Bring a National Trust card or cash (£3) for Parking.

By car: Take A283 (London Road) northwards out of Petworth, past Petworth House, towards Northchapel/Guildford and 0.8 miles on left is Petworth ParkNorth Car Park  – NOT the Petworth House car   park.
