How Well Do You Know Petworth?

FREE HISTORY WALK IN PETWORTH TOWN  SAT 17th August 2.00 p.m.

This walking tour of the Town will take about one hour and, whether you live in the Town and think you know it or are joining as an outsider, will be a fascinating insight into the Town‘s history.

This will be a roughly circular walk. down Lombard Street, through the Square and Golden Square and then on and around the town.  Where was the causeway, the slums or the windmill?  And what about the House of Correction and Worlds End?  Learn of these and other interesting snippets of Petworth’s history.

The walk will be led by Henry Wakeford who has lived in the Town all his life and knows its little known sites very well.

Everyone, members and non members of the Society welcome including dogs kept on a short lead.  It will be fun, informative and an opportunity to make new friends!

For safety reasons, there is  a limit on numbers of 12, so to be sure of a place please book  online at https://Petworthsociety.co.uk –  or register your interest by emailing Bev Sewell at  info@Petworth Society.co.uk.

With only a small number allowed on the walk, if there is sufficient demand, we may run another walk on another day.

Meeting point is on the pavement in front of  St Mary’s Parish Church.
